Transfer of Records with Cooling Off & Authorisation

Within our database each ‘user’ or account is assigned to a particular ‘band’ as we’re a musical organisation. That said from time to time people can elect to change from one band to another with conditions;

  • Band A must ‘sign off’ releasing the user, this is referred to as ‘Clearance’
  • There is a grace period of 14 days, treated like a cooling off period in which they are not eligible
  • Band B must accept the person
  • At the conclusion of the grace period the record is updated to reflect the users band as being band B and that they are an eligible member again.

For the life of me I can’t think of a way to replicate this process in Knack, further a history of these transfers is needed to be recorded. Ideally we’d like a way for a person to initiate this process themselves.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You likely need a “Transfer” object connected to the Accounts object and Bands so you can create a transfer record linked to the musician and the old and new bands
