New Import functionality is not better

I do not like the new import screens. Maybe I’m just cranky and need to get used to it but I like the old way better. I do a lot of bulk imports into my app. Right now, it’s the only way I get data from our primary source into my app until we can hire an API developer to build something for us. (Anybody here an expert that knows the ConnectWise PSA API?) The redesign of the import screens has made the steps to perform my imports take significantly longer. I’m also very worried about making a mistake and causing mass duplication or errors across my data. The most obvious issue for me is the All Fields default. It should not default to import All Fields and auto create new fields for columns it cannot auto match. The system of auto selecting matched fields and not selecting unmatched fields was a much better default.

Just my two cents and that’s probably all it’s worth

Hi @John_Prescriptive.Solutions,

Happy building

I agree - the first import I did I missed some fields it had changed. It has created new fields where I didnt want them, because I didnt notice it was not picking an existing field. It definitely has a learning curve.

I also agree, the new import process is way worse. Every bulk import now takes three times as long to set up.

If there was a way to define the import settings and save them for repeated imports, that could really speed up this process and make the new interface more manageable.

Hello John,

We can do this using power automate easily. in power automate we can define mapping as well.

I understand your frustration with the new import functionality—it can be quite a shift from what you’re used to. Your suggestion about saving import settings for repeated use is a great one and could definitely streamline the process. In the meantime, if you need immediate help with field mapping or dealing with bulk imports, exploring automation tools like Power Automate could be a practical workaround.
