Fields to use in SUM formula not appearing

Afternoon all.

I have table 1 (called Header) connected to table 2 (called Details). One record in table 1 can have many records in table 2.

Header - Details

The connection is established in the Details table.

In the Header I would like to have a summary of a field in the Details tables but when I am setting up the formula I simply do not see the connection fields for the Details table in the list.

Do I need to move the connection to the Header > Details, or have the connection on both sides?

I’m sure this is bobby-basic for you guys!

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul

Hello Paul,

I think you setup one to one connection that’s why you are not able to see the field Sum.

The connection needs to be on the “many” side so Details should be connected to Header.

Thanks Sunny and Carl. I have definitely setup the connection in the DETAILS table and it is set so that each Details record connects to ONE header record, and that each Header record is connected to MANY Details records.

In my Header when setting up the formula fields I can see other connections but only the connections that are setup ‘in’ the Header table.

I think I might have to go outside of Knack to populate the totals that I need to have in this table!

aha - this is solved (thanks Jenni!) I shouldn’t be using an equation field, I should be using the field type of SUM!! awesome.

Glad you got it solved. I hadn’t thought to check that you were using the SUM field :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
