Hi All,
I’ve been staring at this problem and tried a few things but for the life of me I can;t come up with a solution. Now it may be that it can’t be done by virtue of the nature of the database container but I thought I’d throw it out there anyway.
The guts of our system is recording the many details under a variety of topics for servicemen in WW2.
The heart of these are
- Main Data Maintenance includ birth, death, enlistment, unit, awards etc
- Details of Decease (war and post war) and images of both military and/or civil memorials
- Comments and Notes by research team
- Media & Memorabilia items
- Prisoner of War events and camps held at during interment
- Wounded in Action events, dates and places
- Images of the Soldier, enlistment photo, digital tribute we produce, red cross file etc
- Stories and Annecdotes
- Final Review completion and other data
But there is a commonality to the “pages” for each of these screens.
- A menu item to return to the main screen of calling
- Two details only views LH and RH side of the page which show info from related files showing information on Unit and the soldier basics suich as surname, given name, service no and a global file-key.
Currently these 3 items are repeated on every screen and subsequently have a different view no on each screen and each has to be manually maintained if a change in design is considered.
Surely as these are common we must be able to re-use a standard layout for each page WITHOUT HAVING TO MAKE A COPY OF IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN ???
