Difficult to diagnose without being able to dig into it. As it doesn’t look like a particularly complex form I’d add it again and see if the issue persists. If so, drop Knack support a ticket for them to investigate. ![]()
Thanks Carl. I just hate when it does not give you an error and makes it hard to figure why it is doing what it does.
Kyle
Are you using the KTL? If so, have you tried disabling it?
Norm
Norm,
Yes, I am using the KTL add-in. Mainly for the quick single click to change yes/no fields. Is that little 1"X1" (on a 18" monitor) red block something that KTL could produce? Like I said, I am getting no error messages. I even did an inspection of the background code and I did not see anything in there that was producing the red square.Kyle
Yes, the KTL can create this pink error square. It’s in the function showKnackStyleMessage.
It is used when it pre-processes the Submit button for form validation or duplicate entries, etc.
First thing to try is to disable the KTL, but only on your machine. No need to remove all code.
It’s explained in this page: Troubleshooting the KTL · cortexrd/Knack-Toolkit-Library · Discussion #186 · GitHub
Give it a try and let me know how it goes. If it goes away, we’ll need to schedule a debugging session so I can see in real-time what’s going on. I’ll send you a pm.
And please cancel you ticket with Knack if it’s the KTL.
Norm
Norm,
I just removed the affected things and figured out an easier way to get the required input from the user. I would have to rebuild the form to see if it does it again. But thanks for letting me know that a pink square might be KLT. I keep that in mind.
Kyle
Glad you found a workaround.
It’s a too bad we didn’t have a bit of time to debug this. If you see it again, le me know.
Norm
Norman,
I will.
I might get with you sometime in the near future to see if you can show me what I am doing wrong when setting up a form that must be a unique response. I don’t know why Knack does not have a way to do this internally.
In QuickBase I could set two fields and tell it to only allow a unique answer to:
Date and Amount of Receipt and possibly the user.
If all three are the same as something already in the system, there is a good chance it is a duplicate!
How much do you charge for an hour of consultation? What time zone are you in?
Kyle
I agree, _uvc can be tricky to set up sometimes, and such a feature should be supported by default in the Builder in the first place.
About the consultation I’ll respond in a pm.
Normand
