It is handy to have next to a mobile phone a WhatsApp icon to be able to text or call through this channel. And even better if it opens in an other window to not lose track of the work at hand.
Create a Text Formula Field, copy/paste that snippet, and replace Movil with your own field

PS: be careful about the format of your Phone Field.

This is a great feature and time saver. Do you perhaps know how to edit the Link to potentially open the Contact in a new Browser Whatsapp Web Tab as opposed to the Desktop App or is this not a potential solution?

Nop, no idea on opening it in a new Browser Whatsapp Web Tab.
The target="_blank" should open the link in a new browser tab. 
It does indeed.
It opens a new browser tab, end then directly opens the WhatsApp Desktop that I have installed. I guess because I had already parametered it like that.
I do not know what the code does if not WA Desktop installed.
Maybe @Brandon_L you should parameter the behavior in the browser popup before its redirection.
