Can anyone help fix this problem? I’ve created a menu and ticked “Simulate tabs by showing the menu on any linked child pages”, but the menu isn’t appearing on the child pages.
Never had this issue
Your child page doesn’t have any views?
Happy to connect to dig into this as may be something obvious that isn’t showing?
DM me if you would like to.
I know its been a while since this question was first asked, but today I have a similar problem. I have a menu that links to 9 child pages, and I have the “Simulate tabs by showing the menu on any linked child pages” and the “Navigate to the first link automatically” buttons checked. Everything works perfectly.
However, I only want our “Accountant” user roles to see all 9 pages, so for our “Client” user roles I created a second menu that links to 4 of the same pages as the first menu. I then set the page rules so that if the logged in account has a user role of “Accountant”, they only see the first menu, and vice-versa for the second menu.
The problem now is, when the logged in account has a user role of “Client”, this second menu doesn’t appear on the linked pages, exactly as described by @Jason1 . I assume it is because the linked pages are not actually child pages, but linked pages. I know I could solve the problem by having separate child pages for each menu, but then I’d have duplicated child pages, which I’m trying to avoid.
Yes, @LeighBerre96926 that does seem to be the case. However, and somewhat unexpectedly, when I copy the second menu to the first linked page (so that it appears same as if it were a child page), that menu will also appear on all the sibling pages. Unless I’m missing something, this appears to be a functional work-around.
Edit-Actually, what happened when I copied the second menu, is that it made copies of each linked page and make those copies child pages, so I’m back to where I started.
I think you would need to recreate the menu on each of the sibling pages, pointing back to the original sub-pages, rather than copying the menu to the sibling pages. The Copy process copies everything including all the sub-pages, as you have discovered, effectively creating a maintenance nightmare. But if you just create a new menu on each of those sibling pages that has buttons linking back to the original sub-pages, that should work without recreating any sub-pages. A pain to build all those duplicated menus, but once done its done, and you don’t end up with all those duplicate sub-pages to maintain forever.
