What’s Happening
We’re in the process of rolling out Data Access Control (DAC) to all Knack apps where it isn’t already enabled. We’re excited to bring this feature to everyone.

DAC gives you fine-grained control over what your users can see and do with your data, making it easier to build secure, role-based experiences without custom workarounds. Learn more about DAC →

What You’ll Notice

As your app is updated, you may see:

  • A new Data Access tab in your Builder
  • 8 new system users added to your app
  • Additional system fields (Created By, Updated By) in your tables

No action is required on your part.

Rollout Timeline

We’re running this update in batches, so not all apps will be updated at the same time. If you haven’t seen the changes yet, you will within the next few days.

When will this be available in Classic

While the UI set-up is in Next-Gen, the Data Access rules apply to both the Next-Gen and Classic live apps.

Do you have a rough timescale on this? I’m currently rebuilding an app into next gen and have hit a situation where I think the DAC will solve it for me. I don’t want to put effort into work arounds if this is imminent.

The AP region is now wrapped up. The current plan is to start the EU region on Friday, then US early next week.
