Connected sub-level doesn't show in member registration form

I seem to have a problem that I should not have, looks simple to me, but still can’t make it work.

I have “Members” connected to both “Countries” and “Provinces, States, and Regions”. The idea is that I want to capture where they are (country and 1 level down, so for the US that would be US → Kansas or any other State, and for the UK as per the right part of the screenshot (Wales, Ireland, Scotland…) Instead I only see the country name in the dropdown where one should be able to select the Province/State/Region.

The form is set to only show Provinces, States and Regions that are linked to the form’s country, but that doesn’t work. I feel I may be missing something obvious here.

Pls note that the Province/State/Region table has 2816 lines in it, but that can’t be a factor, surely?

Have you checked the Table/Object display field:

You need to make sure it is showing province not country.
