CRM’s and database management has been my field of expertise with over 6 years of experience. I am currently the director of technology for Elegran Real Estate based in NYC and have integrated our tech stack into a custom built knack application that manages various aspects of the business and integrates into our CRM as well as a transaction management tool I built in knack that services over 200 users. My specialities are working around current knack limitations utilizing complex CSS design, Javascript functions within the knack builder and custom zapier automations to perform more complex integrations.

Feel free to send me an email at brandonmbabel@gmail.com to schedule a call to discuss more.

The first and most important step is to thoroughly understand what a CRM is, its functionality, types, and the specific needs it addresses. CRM systems can vary widely depending on the industry and the goals you want to achieve, so investing time in research will save you from unnecessary mistakes later.

I’d recommend starting with some in-depth articles about CRM systems, such as this one: https://www.cleveroad.com/blog/how-to-build-your-own-custom-crm-system/ It provides a clear overview of the essential features and steps involved in creating a CRM.

Additionally, explore several existing CRM platforms to understand their interfaces, features, and workflows. Look at systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, or Pipedrive to see how they solve common problems and what might inspire you in building your own solution.

Hi there!

It’s great that you want to build a CRM with Knack! Creating a custom CRM with Knack is very flexible, and you can design it based on your specific needs, whether for sales tracking, customer management, or project collaboration. Here are a few tips to get started:

  1. Define Your Data Structure: Before building your CRM, it’s essential to map out the data you want to store (contacts, tasks, deals, etc.). Knack makes it easy to create custom fields and relationships between different data types.

  2. Start Simple: Begin by building the basic structure first (e.g., a contact list or customer database), then add features as you go. This incremental approach will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  3. Use Knack’s Templates: If you want a head start, Knack offers pre-built templates that you can customize to suit your CRM needs. You can use these as a foundation and tweak them according to your use case.

  4. Automation: Once the data structure is set, think about how you can automate actions in your CRM (e.g., notifications for follow-up, task reminders). Knack integrates well with other tools like Zapier for automation.

  5. Testing: Once you have your CRM set up, test it with real data. Make sure to adjust fields, permissions, and workflows as needed to make the CRM truly work for you.

Knack’s flexibility allows you to build a CRM that’s tailored to your business processes, and with its simple interface, you don’t need coding skills to get started. Good luck with your CRM project!

If your CRM is just for data managment, Knack is great.

But if you want your CRM to intergrate with Activities, SMS and so on and work on UI and UX, I do not suggest Knack as a CRM.
