Hi everyone,

Iā€™ve posted a tutorial on Auto-Focusing fields using jQuery here, but for those following my ā€œNot done yetā€ journey, Iā€™ve just uploaded a more personal update.

Itā€™s been a strange, heavy week. Between starting my first ā€œofficialā€ week of retirement and preparing for my mumā€™s funeral on Tuesday 20th Janaury 2026, Iā€™ve found myself in a bit of a no-manā€™s land.

In this update:

  • Retirement ā€œTime Warpā€: Experiencing that ā€œwhat day is it?ā€ feeling much sooner than I expected.

  • The Chapel of Rest: Sharing a very personal (and somewhat harrowing) experience of saying a final goodbye to my mum yesterday.

  • The Eulogy: The challenge of writing and rehearsing a tribute to a parent while navigating the mourning process.

Life goes on, and Iā€™m definitely not done yet.
