The bar chart is a natural tool to show trends. The visual effect works if we can order the appearance of the bars. Either horizontal, with the latest to the right, or vertically with the latest on the top.
A more flexible approach would be the ability to change the sort of the records when building the chart based on other field contents than the date the records are entered.
