I’ve been experimenting with how far you can take a custom front end while keeping Knack as the backend, and I’ve put together an interactive demo.
You can drag a slider to compare the original-style interface with the redesigned version—using data from the same Knack app.
A few things to explore:
- Multiple sign-in designs
- Course cards, carousels and an iPod-inspired Cover Flow
- Dashboard charts with movable, resizable tiles
- Conversations displayed in a chat-style interface
- Calendar and event views
- Different navigation layouts, plus light and dark modes
- Different ways to complete the same form, including sliders and drag-and-drop uploads
The idea is to show how the same data can become a very different experience depending on how you present it.
Some interactions are still demo previews, so this is a work in progress rather than a finished product.

I’d love to hear what you think. Which part of your own Knack app would you most like to redesign?
